The Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York (DDAWNY) invites parents/guardians/advocates of people with developmental disabilities to attend a brief meeting on Wednesday, March 28 at 5 pm at the Opportunities Unlimited of Niagaraoffices, at 2510 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Wheatfield, New York.? The informational gathering, hosted by Niagara Cerebral Palsy, Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, and Rivershore, Inc. will run from? 5-6:30 pm.? Refreshments will be served.
An information session facilitated by Max Donatelli, Developmental Disability Alliance of WNY Board Member and chair of the DDAWNY Parent Coalition and Self Advocates (also known as, Family Committee Chair) will cover topics such as:
- The 1115 People First Waiver and changes to Medicaid funding at state and federal levels.? These changes that will affect the services and programs people with developmental disabilities.
- ?Legislative Outreach ? Learn how families can make concerns known to elected and appointed officials.
- Interest in forming a Niagara County coalition of parents, adult family members and advocates who want to be better informed, able to act on issues of concern, and support each other as families.
Meeting attendance is open to any parent/guardian/advocate/adult sibling living in Niagara County, regardless of any service agency that they may be involved with.
